Application range of chip capacitor materials

There are four kinds of materials for SMD capacitor: NPO, X7R, X5R and Y5V.
The chip capacitor made of NPO material has the most stable electrical performance, which almost does not change with the change of temperature, voltage and time. It is suitable for high frequency circuits with low loss and stability requirements. The capacity accuracy is about 5%, but this kind of material can only be used for small capacity. Under 100pF, 100pF to 1000pf can also be produced, but the price is high.
The stability of the chip capacitance of X7R material is worse than that of NPO material, but the capacitance is higher than that of NPO material, the voltage withstand is high, the capacitance accuracy is about 10%, and the capacitance is generally between 100pF and 2.2f.
The stability of Y5V chip capacitor is poor, the capacitance deviation is about 20%, and it is sensitive to temperature and voltage. However, this material can achieve high capacity and low price, which is suitable for circuits with little temperature change. The capacitance ranges from 1000pf to 100F.
The chip capacitor made of X5R has small capacity and small volume, which is suitable for decoupling and output filtering in computer, power supply and automobile circuit.
